Plexcon Construction is currently executing a comprehensive redevelopment project in Oakwood Village, Toronto, converting an existing single-family bungalow into a purpose-built fourplex with an additional laneway suite at the rear of the property. This project showcases our expertise in urban infill construction in Toronto, structural retrofitting, and multiplex conversions.
The existing bungalow underwent a full underpinning process, extending the basement depth to 8 feet to accommodate increased ceiling height and improved livability. A top-up addition was also constructed, adding two new storeys above the existing structure. The design includes an intentional architectural overhang at the side elevation, enhancing usable floor area on the upper levels.
At the rear of the property, a new laneway home is being developed in compliance with the City of Toronto’s Laneway Housing Guidelines. This detached secondary dwelling will provide an additional rental unit with its own independent access and utility connections, optimizing site density and creating long-term value for the property owner.
Full underpinning of existing basement to 8 feet
Two-storey vertical addition with engineered structural framing
Overhang integrated into the top-up design for additional floor space.
Construction of a laneway suite for supplementary rental income
Comprehensive structural, mechanical, and architectural coordination for multiplex compliance
Once complete, this redevelopment will deliver five modern residential units, four within the primary structure and one in the laneway home, offering a solution in response to Toronto’s growing demand for urban housing intensification.
This project shows Plexcon Construction’s commitment as a leading Toronto construction company specializing in multiplex conversions and residential infill developments. By combining construction expertise with a deep understanding of local building regulations, we ensure every project optimizes space, complies with codes, and meets modern urban living needs.
